These rules are intended to keep the forums acceptable to everyone who visits them. Remember that there are many young children who play MWM, and therefore may read the forums. Any post or thread in violation of these rules is subject to editing or deletion without notice.

CURSING

We have a curse filter in place for a reason. These forums are not intended to be considered anything above a "PG" rating. Any attempts at using ASCII characters resembling alphabetical characters to use uncensored cursing in a post is not allowed. There's better things you can use in flaming than curses; learn 'em.

SPAMMING

Spamming (i.e. 'chatting' with someone in real time, posting off topic, making posts without any real point or reason behind them, etc) is only allowed in the designated areas ("spam threads". Spamming in any thread which was created with the intention of an on-topic discussion is subject to deletion. Try to keep the number of spam threads down also; they usually all end up the same way (completely off topic), so one or two should be more than enough. Any more may be deleted. Also, the Bugs and Suggestions forums are off limits to spam and spam threads - anything there that isn't productive or helpful in any way will be deleted. Keep in the Roleplaying and General forums.

ADVERTISING

Advertising another site, IRC channel/server, online game, etc. is not permitted; however, you MAY link to them in signatures/posts. Advertising is only loosely defined, so try to use discretion. Most posts that are advertisements, unless blatantly or intentionally so, will first be edited before being deleted. An "in-the-ballpark" definition of advertising is "linking to another site and giving a detailed/thorough opinion/review of them, possibly attempting to defame MWM".

An example of an advertisement:

"I like MWM and a bunch of games like it, so I signed up over at http://www.blah.com, it's a great game too and plays a lot like MWM, it even uses the same alliance and sector system, if you sign up message me I'm so and so blah blah blah..."

It's clearly advertising another site, trying to draw people there.

An example of an acceptible link:

"http://www.blah.com is another game that's kinda like MWM"

Descriptive of the link, but not trying to defame MWM..

RESPECT

You should respect all administrator and moderator decisions. If you don't like how something is done, do not act disrespectful. In addition, respect for fellow forums users, as they have to right to be here just as much as you do.

IMAGES

Use good taste when posting images. Not everyone has a broadband connection and is older than 17. Avoid posting pictures larger than, say, 250x250 pixels and 50kb (these are ballpark figures, just use common sense); instead, post a link to them using the [url] tags. Also, don't post any pictures that might be offensive or derogatory to anyone; this includes pin-ups/porn, anti-******/arabian/gay/etc logos, pictures depicting graphic violence, etc. Offending images in single posts will be edited out; threads created for the purpose of posting such pictures will be deleted.

FLAMING

Just keep it under control. Don't turn every thread into a flame war. If you absolutely feel the urge and can't control it, create a new thread for flaming someone if they're that much of a problem, but if at all possible, keep it between yourself and whoever else is involved (i.e. email, PM, IM, etc). Also keep in mind how many flame threads are around; if there's too many some may be deleted to make room for other threads that pertain to everyone - use a max of 4 threads as a rule of thumb. Not everyone wants to see threads about how much better than someone else you are. Keep in mind the cursing rule also; any excessive cursing or avoiding of the curse filter will get your posts deleted.

Also, do NOT post instant messaging logs without permission of everyone involved in the conversation. IMs are meant to be private, just like emails and forum PMs. If anyone involved in the posted conversation objects, the post will be deleted.

DISCRIMINATION

MWM is an online community for people of all ages, sexes, cultures, and idealogies. Because we believe everyone is equal, we do not allow people bashing others because of their culture, idealogy, sex, or age. You should not stereotype or be prejudice to any of the above.

COMMON SENSE

It would be very appreciated if you use your common sense in these forums. If someone posts the URL for a bot, make sure you message a moderator about the post and also post in that thread about how using a bot is considered cheating. Just because you are not a moderator or an administrator does not mean that you cannot make a difference in these forums. Think about these rules, and help to make sure everyone respects them.

MULTIPLE FORUM ACCOUNTS

Creating multiple accounts in these forums is NOT ALLOWED. These accounts may be used to compliment yourself, support your argument, sway the results of a poll, flame people without consequences, etc. Moderators can easily check your IP and see what other accounts have used it. Anyone who creates multiple accounts may have their IP banned for some period of time.

REPORTING THREADS

When reporting a problem thread, please include a link/URL to the thread with the reason you believe it's breaching these rules.

IN-GAME INFORMATION

Please keep any specific in-game information in-game. Do not post players' kingdom stats or sector coordinates in the forum, even if they're in the top 100 and others could find it anyway. Discussing alliance wars and such are fine, as long as they don't give away any specific info such as basher's coordinates/stats or such.

CHEATING/EXPLOITING BUGS

Do NOT, under ANY circumstances, request or advertise information on cheating or exploiting bugs in the game. Doing so will at the very least get your post deleted; if done repeatedly you may be banned from the fourms. When reporting an exploit, do NOT publicly post how to exploit the bug. Instead, send the information directly to a moderator through private messaging or email so that it will be reported appropriately.

ENGLISH ONLY

Please speak english and only english in these forums, the moderators can't moderate what they can't read. However, you may use languages other than english in private messages.
